Teaching With the Stars

The Advocates for Scholarly Teaching Committee is hosting its second annual “Teaching with the Stars” event from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the NMSU Golf Course Banquet Room. Participants in the event rotate between six to eight stations each with an award-winning “star” teacher who demonstrates an aspect of how they teach. The format is inspired by “speed dating” events.

This event is open to any graduate student, instructor or faculty from DACC and NMSU campuses interested in learning what other professors do in their classrooms to promote student learning. Registration for this event is through the Teaching Academy at https://trainingcentral.nmsu.edu/Saba/Web/Main/goto/GuestOfferingDetails?offeringId=class000000000010872 with a deadline set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 28. Participants will walk away from a great evening of discussion and a packet including the presentations from each of our “stars.”

Star presenters representing NMSU colleges and the Dona Ana Community College include:

Mike Teitsworth, Dona Ana Community College
Merranda Marin, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences
Carlos Posada, College of Arts and Sciences, Criminal Justice
Tyson Stolte, College of Arts and Sciences, English
Matthew Holt, College of Business, Finance
Fangjun Shu, College of Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
