Timothy Fjordbak, PsyD, was awarded a Presidential Citation for dedicating his professional career to caring for underserved populations.
Fjordbak was a dedicated psychologist and 25-year member of APA who spent his career providing evaluation, treatment and consultation for diverse patient populations across the country, including our nation’s veterans. Fjordbak tragically lost his life while serving as a psychologist at the El Paso VA Medical Center. At the time of his tragic murder, Fjordbak was a supervisory psychologist in their Special Examination Unit. In 2009, Fjordbak was awarded the “Hands and Heart” award from the Secretary of the VA. He also was a trailblazer, adding a master’s degree in psychopharmacology to his skill set. He volunteered at the Mescalero Indian Hospital in New Mexico, where he was described as a rare individual with superior abilities and a humble manner.
