Karen Trujillo was recognized for her research achievements.

Karen Trujillo, research faculty in the NMSU College of Education and director of the Southwest Outreach Academic Research Lab, was recognized during Saturday’s women’s basketball game for her research achievements.

New Mexico State University’s Executive Vice President and Deputy Provost Greg Fant presented Dr. Trujillo, who was joined by her family and students, with the recognition. Dr. Trujillo works with students to provide research and evaluation support for various outreach programs on campus, and is a co-principal investigator on two National Science Foundation-funded grants: Math Snacks Early Algebra and exploring how metacognitive practices impact student success in engineering.

Dr. Trujillo also serves as the state director of Educators Rising New Mexico, guiding high school students on a path to become accomplished teachers.
