The STEM Outreach Center was a participant in the Las Cruces Space Festival that was held on April 12th – 14th. This date was selected to coincide with the anniversary of the USSR’s launch of Yuri Gagarin into a single orbit around the earth in the 1961 human space flight. The festival included events located all over the city. Thursday evening, the STEM Outreach Centered offered star and space exploration through their high tech planetarium, held flight simulator missions in the new Jack and MaryLou Davis STEM TECH Lab, as well as had hands on classroom activities presented by their staff. Saturday evening ended the festival with activities at Plaza de Las Cruces where there were over 20 different space themed booths from the STEM Outreach Center, Spaceport America, Virgin Galactic, Jacobs Technology, WSMR Museum, and many more! This festival was a fun way to bring the community together to celebrate our space accomplishments.
