Mathematically Connected Communities
Mathematically Connected Communities (MC2) hosted the Spring Principal’s Professional Learning Community (PPLC) Academy at Truth or Consequences Middle School on Friday, February 16. Several administrators from our partner schools attended this event intended to provide support for implementing learning from Summer 2017 MathLabTM. Inside the Classroom change in instruction to increase student achievement in Mathematics and Outside the Classroom support were discussed. Visiting Instructional Leader Specialist, Dr. Janice Bradley, Utah Education Policy Center, provided tools to assist administrators in increasing Collective Teacher Efficacy, the SAVI Grid as System for Analyzing Verbal Iteration, and a monthly Implementation Protocol. These tools support change in teacher instruction aligned with the MC2 Leadership Framework Principles and Strategies for Change Crosswalk. A highlight of the day for participants was a field trip to three math teacher classrooms where students described what a compendium is and what they find most useful in the collaborative construction of unit compendiums.
