Introduction

The year is 2026.  Your 9th grade class is on a field trip and you have come to a construction site where a strange object has been slightly damaged and unearthed.   Your class looks inside this object and discovers some interesting articles.   One of the items is a pocket watch with the  name Lynn Loudenback engraved on the back.  Another article is a jewel studded scepter marked King Albert. The third article is a photograph of a little girl.  On the back,  it is signed, "Daddy, lots of love, Lynda B. Johnson."    The last article is a Frank Reade Weekly Magazine Containing Stories of Adventures-on Land, Sea & in the Air.

  1. First you'll be assigned to a team of 3 students
  2. From the items found, choose one and from the information collected from the item conduct your research to discover descendants
  3. Collect information from the resources provided to complete forms
  4. Create a brochure summarizing the genealogy report describing to the class the information you discovered about the person you selected

Conclusion

From this assignment, the student will gain information about what genealogy and a genealogist is, what he or she does, and why it is important.  Also, the student will be introduced to the resources on the internet to find family history information.  The student will be able to transfer the skills gained to performing a personal genealogy on their family history.
