Introduction


You are 18 and your parents have hinted that it is time for you to find a job. You have a resume that you created in high school in one of your elective classes. You were not really paying attention when the teacher discussed appropriate resume formats and how to find a job. You've thought about getting a job, but you are not sure if you even know where to begin.  You will be visiting several sites in this activity that will teach you how to be successful in the job hunt. You will also complete a virtual interview. After completing the activity, you will be able to determine if you are prepared for the world of work.


The Task


You will visit five different web sites. You will evaluate your resume and apply all of the information in the web sites to complete your virtual interview. Print a copy of the Job Hunt Activity Sheet to help you navigate your way through the world of employment decisions.

The Process


1. The first web site you will require you to take a personality test called the Career Key. You are to take the Career Key to help determine what your personality says may be appropriate careers for you. On your Student Activity Sheet, answer a few questions while you are exploring. After determining your personality style, see which jobs best fit your personality. When you are finished at this particular site, click on the "Back" button on your menu bar to return to this page. Now that you know what to do, click on the link below and begin discovering.

2. Next, you will visit an area that will help you get an interview - resumes. Without a good resume, you will not be allowed in the door. Check out the next site to see the things you should not do. 3. If you do not know how to look for a job, you may waste a lot of time and energy. Therefore, you need to Your next responsibility will be to determine the 5 keys to job hunting success. Read through the keys and determine what you are doing correctly and the items you may need to improve upon. Answer the questions that correspond with this activity. 4. You have now landed the interview and you feel you are prepared to face the inquisitor. Are you really ready? Well, you shall soon find out. Complete the virtual interview and record your progress. (If you did not pass - try, try again until you do.) 5. After all of your hard work, you are hired. After a few weeks on the job, your employer has decided to fire you. Check to see if you know your rights as an employee.Take the quiz and see what you do and don't know. Conclusion

After alll of your hard work, you are now aware of the successes and pitfalls in the world of job hunting. You should also have some idea of possible career choices for the future.
