Letter from the Dean's Office
Dear Student: The NMSU College of Education is pleased to announce that, starting in Fall 2008, we will implement Tk20, a web-based reporting and assessment system that will assist us in better serving our students and in meeting state and national accreditation standards. TK20 will be implemented in conjunction with several courses, including EDLT 368, EDUC 518, EDUC 519, SPED 350, SPED 500, SPED 506, and SPED 509. Our records indicate that you are enrolled in one or more of these courses for Fall 2008. All students enrolled in the identified courses must purchase a Tk20 account in order to complete several required course assignments. The one-time subscription fee for Tk20 is $100 (plus a $3.00 processing charge) and must be purchased online with a credit card, money order, or cashier’s check at the Tk20 website. Within 1-3 days of making your payment, you will receive an activation email that will explain how to access the Tk20 system. This email will serve as your proof of purchase. In addition, the NMSU Tk20 specialists will be able to verify account activation. Please note that the subscription fee must be paid before you can use the system. Tk20 is a powerful system whose features will enable you to do the following and much more:
- Gain experience using online data-based systems which are increasingly used by public schools in the state and nationally.
- Build artifacts (evidences of learning outcomes) electronically, online. These will remain in your account for your use, even after you graduate.
- Receive quicker feedback on your work from instructors and mentors.
- Create electronic portfolios for documenting and presenting your work to faculty and prospective employers.
- Document your field experiences (e.g., student teaching and internships).
- Submit application forms online (e.g., applications for admission to the Teacher Education Program and student teaching).
- Monitor your progress and performance in College of Education professional preparation programs.
Thank you, Office of the Dean College of Education
