NMSU graduate student Tanya Watson and undergraduate students Hailey Hightower and Sabrina Jamison recently delivered close to 150 boxes to two deserving community organizations in Las Cruces. Watson collected 50 boxes for La Casa, Inc., while Hightower and Jamison delivered 91 boxes to Jardin de los Niños. Children at both shelters will each receive a box filled with blankets, clothing and other items listed on their wish lists. The items were donated by those who “adopted” a child in need. Watson, Hightower and Jamison are students in the NMSU College of Education.
This is the second year College of Education students have given gifts to the two shelters. The project started last year by students in the ELA 350 class as part of the Service Learning for Educational Distinction (SLED) program. (NMSU photos by Denise Rodriguez-Strawn and Adriana M. Chavez)
