Nicole Delgado is the assistant director of the STEM Outreach Center, which is housed in New Mexico State University’s College of Education. Delgado has worked on campus since 2003, and has been a staff member of the STEM Outreach Center for nearly eight years. Among her many responsibilities are coordinating teacher professional development, developing workshops and conferences for teachers to help them explore STEM topics to include in their classrooms, and overseeing 21st Century Community Learning Centers-funded after-school programs for 4,200 students in Doña Ana County.
Delgado said she loves her job at the STEM Outreach Center because of its flexibility and creative control, and the numerous opportunities to work in the community and provide educational outreach. She also said she likes NMSU because “it supports people like me who grew up in the area. It fosters the opportunity to go from local high school student to college student to working professional all within the same community.”
