SC2 Summer Institutes finish with great success

The SC2 Institutes, held June 11-15 and July 16-20 at The Teaching Academy on the NMSU campus, were a great success. Middle school teachers joined with fifth-grade teachers to participate in labs designed by NMSU and regional scientists in physics, chemistry, biology, and geology to increase teachers' science content knowledge.

The labs also served as models for inquiry-based curriculum. In addition, PASCO trainers gave a workshop on the new PASCO technology that teachers will be able to use in their classrooms throughout the year. The teachers were given many resources to use in their classrooms from GK-12 lesson plans, posters, CDs, and other materials. They were very busy, productive weeks.

Thanks to all who participated!
