SC2 2nd Annual Field Day
Over 50 teachers participated in the 2nd Annual SC2 Field Day on Saturday, April 25th, 2009. Part of the day was spent canoeing down the Rio Grande, testing whether the water depth changed their rate of speed, and observing the nature around them. The other part of the full day included a nature walk with Alex Mares, State Park Ranger at the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park, learning about the plants and their uses, birding with Brian Locke, Ph.D., an ornithologist, and practicing classroom applications with Melly Locke, a LCPS teacher with an extensive science background. Even though some teachers took an unexpected dip in the Rio Grande, overall the Field Day was a great success! If you missed this event, there's always next year
