SC2: Scientifically Connected CommunitiesInspiring the next generation of scientists!
Teachers Nate Raynor from Gadsden Independent School District, Maricela Rincon, and Ricardo from Las Cruces Public Schools facilitated workshops using the Project Learning Tree curriculum for over 60 teachers on Saturday, Feb. 21 at O'Donnell Hall on the NMSU campus. Barbara Garrity, Statewide Coordinator of the Environmental Educators Association of NM (EEANM), also facilitated workshop sessions for teachers.
All participants were given the Project Learning Tree book and other wonderful classroom materials, provided by Jean Szymanski from the U.S. Forest Service and Barbara Garrity. Jean Szymanski presented an overview of the PLT program at the opening general session. Everyone enjoyed the workshops and came away with new ideas to integrate environmental science throughout all content areas. The CREST Program provided funding for stipends. NMSTA and NMNTCM provided the funding for lunch.
Thank you to all those who planned, provided resources, and participated!
