SC2: Scientifically Connected CommunitiesInspiring the next generation of scientists!
The 1st Annual Southwest New Mexico Science Teachers Association Conference
On Saturday, Nov. 15th, scientific literacy was being increased at O’Donnell Hall on the NMSU campus! Over 75 teachers registered for the conference that was organized by Susan Brown, Terri Hansen, and Nate Raynor. Presenters offered 24 workshops on topics ranging from how to integrate science and literature to lab safety in the classroom. Mary Jo Daniel, Ph.D. , president of NMSTA and Science Specialist of the NM PED was the keynote speaker.
The conference was a great success. Teachers came away with new ideas for the classroom and new connections among the educational community. The response from the participants was very positive. We look forward to next year’s conference!
