LC PREP (Las Cruces Prefreshman Engineering Program) is a seven week summer program for achieving middle school students. It is designed to prepare pre-college students for careers in science, mathematics, and engineering. Students may begin PREP as early as sixth grade and attend for three years prior to college entrance.

NM BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) is a sports-like contest between remote controlled robots. Students are issued a “kit” at game introduction. The students have six weeks to develop their robot before the competition. Through BEST, students develop project management and teamwork skills and learn about the design to market life cycle.

M-TEC (Tech Mobile) is a traveling showcase of manufacturing and engineering related equipment. It was designed to spark K-12 interest in technology and engineering. M-Tec offers: robotics workshops to elementary, middle and high school students as well as for teachers; a machinist apprentice program and a summer institute teaching teachers technology.

Outreach programs offered by this consortium are: Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities for undergraduates; NASA Summer internship for undergraduate and graduate students; GRASP (Gaining Retention and Achievement for Students Program) and SETE (Science, Engineering, Technology Education) Conference.

WERC (Waste-Management, Education and Research Consortium) The mission is to develop human resources and technologies to address environmental and human-health related issues through the avenues of education, public outreach, technology development and deployment and research to promote a clean environment.

NM AMP (New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation) is a statewide, National Science Foundation sponsored program to increase the number of B.S. degrees in science, technology, engineering and math earned by minority students. Key elements of AMP are the freshman SMET courses to facilitate thinking, learning and problem solving techniques, undergraduate research assistantships, annual student research conference and continuous projects focusing on engineering and education.

RASEM² (Regional Alliance for Science, Engineering, and Mathematics- Squared) provides the means, support and encouragement for students with disabilities to overcome the educational barriers they face in considering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers. RASEM also offers a summer science camp for students with disabilities through hands-on activities, web-quests and other multiple science and math activities and a mentoring program addressing the low enrollment rate of students with disabilities in the STEM fields and TOP (Teacher Outreach Program), a mini-grant designed to put monies into the hands of classroom teachers for math and science and hands-on projects in which students with disabilities play a major role.
