WISE - Watersheds In Science Education is a collaborative initiative for hands-on, K-12 and life-long science education. It is also for the first time student-of any age- who will be provided with a broad and deep set of options for authentic and meaningful science learning interactions with the physical environment. The goal is the development and implementation of collaborative programming to use county open space properties for agriculture, natural resources, science, historical, and cultural education programs. The Bernalillo County open space properties with their exceptional educational values for WISE’s “classrooms” are: Durand, Gutierrez-Hubbell, Pajarito, Bachechi, Ojito de San Antonio, Carlito, Sabino, Sedillo.

The NMSU LGI is an interdisciplinary initiative designed to improve achievement through educational games and simulations in formal and informal learning. It includes: Design and production of games and simulations in math, science, and literacy; research and evaluation of effectiveness of student learning and achievement; collaborative work with informal educators; pre and in-service teacher instruction and workshops ad the Learning Games Lab.
