The Learning Disabilities
Association of New Mexico (NM-LDA) is a nonprofit volunteer organization
affiliated with the Learning Disabilities
Association of America (LDA). LDA gives support and information to
persons with learning disabilities, parents, teachers, and other
professionals through 50 state affiliates and 800 local units. NM-LDA is
headquartered in Las Cruces. Dues of $25 per year entitle a family to
belong to both the local and national organizations and receive their newsletters ($15 goes to National and
$10 goes to the Local Affiliate).
LDA is dedicated to a world in which
LDA is a non-profit organization of volunteers including individuals with learning disabilities,
their families and professionals. LDA is dedicated to identifying causes and promoting
prevention of learning disabilities and to enhancing the quality of life for all individuals
with learning disabilities and their families by encouraging effective identification and
intervention, fostering research, and protecting their rights under the law. LDA seeks to
accomplish this through awareness, advocacy, empowerment, education, service and collaborative
efforts.
Re-establish the telephone referral service
Re-activate the lending library
Create and distribute two newsletters: one Fall and one Spring
Schedule four presentations around the state: 2 Fall and 2 Spring
Develop a state speakers' bureau
Disseminate information in the around the State
