Business Administration Track

Business Track MBA Curriculum (PDF)

The Kinesiology - Business Track is for students who are interested in understanding the human body but also have a strong interest in business. Just like students who specialize in the Exercise Science track, students will study human anatomy, anatomical movement, motor control, motor learning, biomechanics, exercise physiology, as well as a variety of other exercise related courses. Students have the option of taking more advanced exercise related course work if they so desire. However, the Business Administration option allows students to learn the fundamental aspects associated with business operation. The Business Administration Minor is controlled through the College of Business.

Many students who have ambitions of opening their own gym, performance center, or possibly managing a facility where knowing exercise isn't enough may find this to be the best Kinesiology Track. Health care is a business and this track provides a combined Exercise - Business approach.

Completing the appropriate business coursework and completion of the essential paperwork with the business school, will ultimately provide the student with a Business Administration Minor in conjunction with their Kinesiology Major.

As a final degree requirement, students will perform a 12 credit internship program. The internship is the culmination of the student's education and is designed to allow the student to "apply" their knowledge. Students perform their internships in many places around the country and in some cases internationally. The 12 credit internship requires 450 hours (30 hours a week) at a facility which is agreed upon by the Program Director and/or Departmental Internship Coordinator. There are several requirements which must be met prior to beginning this experience. This internship is generally performed during a student's final semester of study.

Students interested in becoming a Kinesiology Major should first meet with the College of Education Advising Office located in Room 101, O'Donnell Hall. Further questions can be directed to the Department of Human Performance Dance and Recreation in the Activity Center Room 204 or by calling 575-646-2215.
