Kimberly Oliver is an Associate Professor in Physical Education Pedagogy. She teaches courses in foundations, elementary and secondary physical education methods and supervises student teachers. She has taught at The University of Georgia and The University of Alabama prior to coming to NMSU. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech; her M.A. in Physical Education from California State University, Fresno; and her B.A. in Recreation Administration from California State University, Chico. She has taught K-12 physical education in the public schools. Her research focuses on developing curriculum to assist adolescent girls in critically examining forms and processes of bodily enculturation that threaten their health and well being. She has co-authored a book with Peter Lang Publishing entitled "Bodily Knowledge: Learning about Equity and Justice with Adolescent Girls (Oliver & Lalik, 2000) and has several research articles in journals such as Teachers College Record, The Journal of Curriculum Studies, and Journal of Teaching in Physical Education. She has presented her research at several national and international venues.
