Articles
should range in length from four to ten double-spaced
typewritten pages. The articles will be judged by their
originality, relevance, and current interest. Articles
submitted to the editor for review should not be
simultaneously submitted to other reading periodicals. If
rejected, original copies of articles published in THE NEW
MEXICO JOURNAL OF READING become the property of the state
reading council. Authors will receive two complimentary copies
of the Journal in which their articles appear 1. |

Preparation
of the Manuscript |
|
IDENTIFICATION.
Prepare a cover sheet that gives only the title of the
article, the author's full name, and the return address
including the author's email address. The title and the
appropriate page numbers should be on all the other
pages. Thus, the article is anonymous while it is being
evaluated by the editorial board. |
|
NUMBER
OF COPIES. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts to
the email address listed. If manuscripts are sent by mail,
three copies of the article should be submitted to the editor.
Always keep a copy of your article for your records. |
|
FORMAT.
Typing should be double-spaced, including references and
footnotes. Quotations should be double-spaced and indented
five spaces from the left margin. Allow margins of at least
one and one-half inches on all four sides of every page. |
|
STYLE
OF WRITING. Third-person writing is preferred to the
first-person informal style. A writer should carefully avoid
use of generic masculine gender for both sexes. Avoid
stereotyping on the basis of sex, race, ethnic group,
religion, or any other characteristic that makes
generalizations. |
|
BIBLIOGRAPHIC
DATA. All references must be fully footnoted. In the body
of your manuscript give only the author's last name and the
year of the publication being cited. |
|
1NOTE:
Two complimentary copies will be mailed to each of the authors
whose material is published in NMJOR. |
