The Center for Academic Success has announced the 2008 recipients of the Lupe Torres Scholarship. Each recipient will receive scholarships of $450. An awards ceremony to recognize them will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, April 18, in Room 212 of Hardman Hall.
Maria T. Lopez is a freshman from Columbus, N.M. She is majoring in Business Administration. Jessie Walton is a Las Cruces native. She is a senior majoring in Elementary Education.
Maria and Jessie composed outstanding essays on how the services offered through the Center for Academic Success have assisted them in reaching their academic goals.
Lupe Torres was a nine-year employee of the CAS before her passing in 1997. This scholarship is offered in remembrance and celebration of her service to NMSU students.
