Jim Walsh graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1975. Mr. Walsh got his start in Texas school law by serving as the attorney for the Region XIII Legal Service Program, beginning in 1979. In 1983, Mr. Walsh, Joe Hairston and Tom Doyal (now retired from the firm) founded the law firm, now known as Walsh, Anderson, Brown, Schulze & Aldridge, P.C., to focus on representing Texas public schools. In his many years as a Texas school lawyer, Mr. Walsh has written many articles and made presentations throughout the state and the nation. He is the co-author of The Educator's Guide to Texas School Law, along with Dr. Frank Kemerer of the University of North Texas and Laurie Maniotis. He is co-publisher of The Texas School Administrators' Legal Digest, for which he writes the popular "Law Dawg" column. He is the author of a monthly newsletter on special education, This Just In...., and is featured in the Walsh Anderson Special Education Audiocassette series. Mr. Walsh has taught school law at both Baylor University and Texas State University. He has conducted inservice training sessions at every Education Service Centers in the state and at hundreds of school districts. Mr. Walsh is a highly sought-after speaker in Texas and throughout the nation.
