Rick Scott
Professor appointed to national mathematics instruction commission
Patrick Scott, a mathematics education professor at NMSU, has been appointed to a two-year term on the U.S. National Commission for Mathematics Instruction (USNC/MI). The USNC/MI promotes mathematics education throughout the world.
As a member, Scott will meet with the commission twice a year and will attend its next international conference in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2008.
"It's a great opportunity to bring attention to mathematics education in Latin America and to students that come from Latin America," Scott said.
Scott is currently a board member of the New Mexico Partnership for Mathematics and Science Education and the director of Mathematically Connected Communities.
