Dear College of Education Supporters, It's that time of year, again, when the College of Education has a chance to say hello to all of our amazing alumni and friends. We've had a very busy year in program and curriculum development, recruitment, and outreach. As you read this issue of The Communicator, know that every day we are working to improve educational opportunities for the children of New Mexico and the region. Through partnerships, collaborations, and distance-delivered coursework, we continue to expand our efforts. Our alumni and friends are a significant factor in the success of our outreach efforts. One of our proudest moments this year was the groundbreaking of the Children's Village. The Village was merely a dream last year at this time and we have now successfully opened the doors to three new day care and lab school facilities for our early childhood programs. At this point we have only moved existing services from O'Donnell Hall to the Village, but, over the course of the upcoming year, we plan to expand the facilities of the Village to serve more than 300 children. This opportunity was made possible only through your support, both financially and in-kind. We invite you to explore these new facilities and ask that you remember that needs remain great in this area. Our Board of Advocates continues to be a major factor in our growth and program improvement. Board members share our vision for improved K-12 education through quality teacher training. They help us in fund raising and in setting priorities. We thank these tireless individuals and look forward to working with them more. If you would like to keep up with us during the year, let me remind you of our website. We have added new sections for you to check out at http://education.nmsu.edu. It's very important to us that you stay aware of what is happening at the College of Education. If you have news that you wish to share, just let us know. We appreciate your continued support and wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year. We know that the work we are about is important, and we know that we cannot succeed without the help of our alumni and friends. Thank you, Robert D. Moulton, Dean |
