Human Performance, Dance and Recreation achieves NSCA certification

The NMSU Human Performance, Dance and Recreation Department's Kinesiology Program has completed its National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification renewal so that its certified students will have better job opportunities after graduating.

Joseph M. Berning, the director of the department's Exercise Physiology Laboratory, said the students who have both their bachelor's degree and NSCA certification will stand out more to employers than those without certification.

"The hiring rates are much higher for those with the certification," Berning said. "It provides the students with another avenue to assist them in professional career development."
