Welcome NMSU-Carlsbad First Bachelor Elementary Education Cohort!

The program of study is designed to prepare individuals for K-8 teaching in public and private schools and for licensure by the New Mexico State Board of Education. This program includes both general education courses and professional education courses related to specific practice settings. Through extensive field experiences and research projects the students gain the skills and abilities to teach children with professionalism and with the most innovative practices.

Next semester our first cohort will be assigned to student teach at various locations in the neighboring districts with the majority assigned to Carlsbad Municipal School District. This is a courageous group who serve as pioneers of the Elementary Education, B. S. degree completion program at NMSU-Carlsbad. Currently there is a second cohort who will begin the process next semester and two consecutive cohorts awaiting admittance to the Teacher Education Program beginning each spring.
