The NMSU Dance Program will present "Samarpanam", a classical Indian dance performance featuring Bharathnatyam and Kathak dance forms. The Las Cruces community will have the opportunity to see Nirmala Madhava, the principal choreographer at the Prabhat Academy for Music and Performing Arts in San Francisco, California. Nirmala has been recognized as a master solo-performer in the San Francisco ethnic dance festival, which is acclaimed as one of the most significant festivals of its type in North America. Nirmala is also a visiting faculty member at De Anza College's creative arts department.
On Saturday, April 28, Nirmala Madhava and her students will perform at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. This performance is a tribute to Nirmala's dance teacher, Guru Narmadha who passed away on March 30, 2007 in India. The performance will begin at 7:00pm.
Tickets prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the show. For more information call the NMSU dance office, 505-646-2070.
