Introduction: From Star Wars to Princess Bride, archetypes can be found in all forms of literature. This WebQuest asks you to research what an archetype is and to explore the many ways they are manifested in literature and film.

Task: As you explore the resources in this WebQuest, you will take notes, collect information, and create a page in our class book of Archetypes. You will draw, write, and document an archetype of your teams' choice and be contributors to the book.

Resources: You will explore the following resources to come to a better understanding of what archetypes are and then your team will pick one (without duplication in our class) to contribute to our class book.
1. A Look at 8 Heroes
2. Wikipedia
3. Archetypes 101
4. Archetypes in Literature
5. The Eight Hero Archetypes
6. The Center for Story and Symbol

Evaluation: Students will create a class page for the Book of Archetypes. The following rubric will be your guide to success for this Archetype Project:

Conclusion: This year in English II you will meet many archetypes--from the Bible as literature to the Fairy Tale unit. You will now be able to recognize many archetypes that are found in literature and film.
