Master of Arts (M.A.) and Licensure Program in Educational Administration

Focus on Pk-12 Administration

Description

The master's and licensure program in the Department of Educational Management and Development is designed to assist you in preparation for a career in public school leadership; administration of federal or private sector agencies having educational interests; college or university administration; and educational research. Graduate work beyond the master's degree may be necessary depending on your field of interest.

Program Delivery

The department uses a hybrid distance education program combining both asynchronous and synchronous delivery technologies. The internships require attendance at monthly seminars that are held face-to-face on the Las Cruces campus. There is a mandatory face-to-face orientation in Las Cruces prior to start of course work in August.

Required Credit Hours

This program is 33 credits.

Program Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Three years of teaching experience in the Pk-12 sector
  • Current teaching license (International applicants may submit a certified letter from their school director in lieu of a teaching license.)
  • Admission to NMSU Graduate School and Department of EMD
  • Compliance with all requirements outlined in the EMD Master's Handbook and the NMSU Graduate Catalog
