Academics - Overview

Undergraduate Courses

The Department of Educational Management and Development does not offer a degree program for undergraduate students. The department offers several undergraduate courses focused on the foundations and history of education.

Master of Arts in Educational Administration

Master's students will specialize in one of the following:

Administrative Licensure

Students with a master's degree and three years of teaching experience in the Pk-12 sector can pursue New Mexico licensure in educational administration.

Educational Leadership Doctoral Program

The Department offers an Educational Leadership Doctoral Program (ELDP). The Department utilizes a cohort model as it is proven to have a positive correlation to student completion rates.

The Department of Educational Management & Development has structured this program such that full-time educators can participate. The ELDP is a hybrid model involving face-to-face instruction and the use of distance education media. All ELDP students should be prepared to attend one weekend of classes every month at the Las Cruces campus.

Graduate Assistantships

Some graduate assistantships are available in the department. The date for application for the following academic year is March 15.
