Requirements
- Any research that will involve human participants MUST receive IRB approval. The requirements and approval process options change from time to time. Consult the website, Institutional Review Board, when preparing a grant, and be sure to include any necessary requirements. Note that when a grant is submitted to the NSF, the NIH, and an increasing number of funding institutions, there is a checkbox that must be completed and that indicates the current status of the project's IRB application. IRB approval MUST be obtained before grant activities can commence.
- The IRB approval process REQUIRES that researchers complete in computer-based training course at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) . This training takes approximately 1 hour to complete. (Train) Check the IRB page to determine whether you should print the certificate of completion to be included with your application.
