Program Admission
Thank you for your interest in the
Communication
Disorders (CD) Master's Program at New Mexico State University. We
understand that choosing an institution for graduate studies is a daunting
decision. We hope that you will give the CD program at NMSU strong consideration
because we offer the types of educational, clinical, and living experiences
that you are seeking.
Our medium-sized, "user-friendly," clinically-oriented
program offers academic coursework, instrumentation laboratories, and clinical
experiences that fully meet the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's
academic program accreditation requirements. Our goal is to facilitate
the development of your constructive thinking, problem solving, and decision
making to ensure your success in our profession. We believe that our program
offers a breadth and depth of academic and clinical experiences that will
serve you well throughout your careers. Highlights of our program include:
- Coursework and practicum related to culturally and linguistically diverse clients and families
- Coursework and practicum in adult neurogenic communication disorders, including dysphagia
- Coursework in supervision, administration, teambuilding, and leadership
- Coursework and practicum in oral and written discourse analysis and intervention
- Coursework and practicum in augmentative/alternative communication systems

The CD program is one of two components
