Application Process
Traditional Undergraduate Students
The NMSU ATEP generally accepts up to 20 qualified students each spring. Acceptance is competitively based on the quality of the application materials and the interview process. Application to the NMSU ATEP requires the following:
- Background Clearance($)
- First Aid & CPR/AED-Professional Rescuer($)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series($)
- Annal Tuberculosis screening($)
- Annual blood-borne pathogen training
- HIPAA training
- Physical exam by MD or DO
- Written statement of ability to meet the Technical Standards.
- Official High School Transcripts
- Minimum High School GPA of 2.5
- College Transcripts
- Minimum College GPA of 2.5
- Three letters of recommendation
- Site visits to affiliated high school sites
- Interview with ATEP faculty and clinical instructors
- Be a regular Status, full-time student
- Satisfy NMSU basic academic competency requirements in English and math.
- Passing of prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of "C".
- SP M 190 - Introduction to Athletic Training.
- SP M 272 - Clinical Practicum I
Applications to the NMSU ATEP are generally accepted by April 15 for admission the following fall semester.
Applicants are generally notified of acceptance into the ATEP after spring grades have been posted.
NMMI/ENMU - Roswell Articulation Agreement
The NMSU ATEP has an articulation agreement with the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) and Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell(ENMUR), which allows NMMI students to apply to the NMSU ATEP during the spring of their freshman year, yet follow an approved curriculum plan at NMMI or ENMUR through their sophomore year. NMMI students are expected to meet the traditional undergraduate application requirements.
