Application Process

Traditional Undergraduate Students

The NMSU ATEP generally accepts up to 20 qualified students each spring. Acceptance is competitively based on the quality of the application materials and the interview process. Application to the NMSU ATEP requires the following:

Pre requisite courses: SPM 190, SPM 272, English and Math.

Observation hours: site visits to high schools and college.

Complete written packet of information.

  2. First Aid & CPR/AED-Professional Rescuer($)
  3. Hepatitis B vaccination series($)
  4. Annual Tuberculosis screening($)
  5. Physical exam by MD or DO
  6. Written statement of ability to meet the Technical Standards.
  7. Official High School Transcripts
  8. Minimum High School GPA of 2.5
  9. All College Transcripts
  10. Minimum College GPA of 2.5
  11. Three letters of recommendation
  12. Be a regular Status, full-time student
  13. Satisfy NMSU basic academic competency requirements in English and math.

Interview with ATEP faculty and clinical instructors.

Applications to the NMSU ATEP are due on the second Friday in April for admission the following fall semester.

Applicants will be accepted on a conditional status depending on evaluation of spring grades. Applicants will be granted full acceptance if the GPA of the student is 2.5 or higher after the spring semester of the application year.

NMMI/ENMU - Roswell Articulation Agreement

The NMSU ATEP has an articulation agreement with the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) and Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell(ENMUR), which allows NMMI students to apply to the NMSU ATEP during the spring of their freshman year, yet follow an approved curriculum plan at NMMI or ENMUR through their sophomore year. NMMI students are expected to meet the traditional undergraduate application requirements.
