Natatorium
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Natatorium's Hours?
The Natatorium is open Monday-Friday from 6:00am to 9:00pm, on Saturdays from 7:00am-7:00pm and Sundays from 1:00pm-6:00pm.
When is the best time for lap swim?
The Natatorium offers lap swimming throughout the duration of our 6:00am-9:00pm hours. However, certain times, such as 6:00am-7:30am and 4:30pm-7:00pm, are times that are occupied by various swim teams and therefore make the pools much more crowded.
Can I swim if I'm not a student?
In order to swim at the NMSU Natatorium, you must be affiliated with NMSU and bring a current NMSU ID. If you are not affiliated at all, you can come as a guest of someone who is and pay the daily swim fee of $5.00.
If I am not a full-time NMSU student, but am affiliated with the University, where can I obtain a swim pass?
To obtain a Natatorium swim pass, simply go into the Cashier's Office in the Educational Services Building located next to the Pan American Center. No passes will be given at the Natatorium and must be obtained through the Cashier's Office.
If I do not have a parking sticker, where should I park?
There are 4 parking meters infront of the Natatorium available for anyone to park in, but if you park in a labeled campus lot without a permit you will be towed. NMSU does have a few free lots, located just east of the Activity Center and South of the soccer fields.
Where can I find goggles, swim caps, and/or swimwear?
The Natatorium sells a variety of goggles, swim caps, nose plugs, ear plugs and swim diapers for a relatively inexpensive cost. Swimwear can be purchased at a local Big 5, Sportsman's Warehouse, or other locations around Las Cruces.
Where can I buy a swim pass?
All swim passes can be purchased at the Cashier's Office in the Educational Services Building, located just west of the Pan American Center.
When can I bring my children?
The only time children under the age of 16 are allowed to swim freely is during our Recreation Hours. These vary depending on the latest schedule, so call the Natatorium at 575.646.3518, or drop by to obtain a current schedule. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and will only be permitted to swim during the Recreation Hours.
Are there any fitness classes offered?
NMSU offers various swim courses each semester that you may register for. However, there are no "pay-as-you-go" classes offered by the Natatorium. Some of the NMSU Lifeguards offer private swimming lessons for swimmers of all ages, so if interested in private lessons, please call the Natatorium and leave your information with the Desk Attendent.
