More Information:

Born in England and initially educated there, Dr. Maud taught in the public schools in Canada (Montreal), England (Bradford) and Australia (Sydney) before coming to this country to further his education by completing his B.S. degree at the University of Oregon and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of New Mexico. His philosophy, best exemplified in his recent publication entitled "The Grass is Always Greener: The Rambling Reminiscences of a Wandering Professor", has resulted in his having taught in most geographical regions of the country.

His major area of academic expertise and interest has been exercise physiology and he is the co-editor of the text "Physiological Assessment of Human Fitness" a second edition of which was recently published. His concerns relative to the future of physical education and related disciplines within the university setting, and the challenges of typical university politics, has in recent years led to heavy involvement in departmental administration.

In the sporting arena Dr. Maud has been a "Jack of all Trades and Master of None". He played rugby for thirty-six years (and his body is now suffering the consequences) but he has competed in sports ranging from fives, badminton, squash and racquetball to kayaking, cycling, running and swimming and even completed a rather slow Hawaii Ironman. Current physical activity is somewhat limited although he can be seen playing golf occasionally (6:30 am Sunday morning tee off - want to join us?), dreaming of breaking ninety one day (or even a hundred this year!) and hoping to pursue more vigorous exercise once the latest body repair has been completed.

Other non-academic interests, besides activity participation in golf and racquet ball and watching rugby games, includes aviculture, woodworking, and sailing.
