Mike O'Larey is in his fourteenth year at NMSU. Mike has been the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Health Services since 1993. Mike earned his Bachelors degree from Washington State University in 1981. After graduating from WSU, Mike served as the head athletic trainer for Tacoma (Washington) Community College from 1981-1987. In 1987 Mike joined the athletic training staff at Northern Arizona University, and spent two years as an assistant athletic trainer. Mike earned his Masters degree while at NAU. Mike started at NMSU in July 1989.

Mike has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association since 1977, and has been a Certified member since 1982. He is licensed as an athletic trainer by the State of New Mexico since 1990, and has served in several capacities for the New Mexico Athletic Trainers Association. He is currently the Vice Chair of the New Mexico Athletic Trainers Practice Board.

Mike has been an athletic trainer for intercollegiate athletes since 1975. He has also worked with athletes at the professional level, assisting both the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals in their pre-season football camps. In 1980 Mike served as the athletic trainer for the Butte Copper Kings professional baseball club. Mike worked the 1984 Women's Olympic Marathon Trials and assisted in the baseball coverage at the 1990 Goodwill Games. Mike has also worked as the athletic trainer for several high schools.
