Mr. LaPorte received his Bachelor's from Penn State and his Masters from the University of Louisville and has been employed at NMSU since 1979. As the Director of Intramurals, he is responsible for the Intramural and Recreational Sports program and the Natatorium. He has taught classes in the Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Department in Introduction to Physical Education, Lifelong Outdoor Leisure Activities, Rock Climbing, Basketball, Racquetball, Volleyball, Weight Training, and Wrestling. He advises the Officials Association and the Ski and Snowboarding Clubs. One of his avocations is officiating and he has officiated the New Mexico State Championships in football, volleyball, and basketball. His leisure time is spent in our great weather snowboarding, and mountain biking. He and his wife Debbi, a NMSU English Instructor and writer, have three girls.
