| The Reading, Language and Literacy program prepares individuals for professions in reading and literacy especially as they relate to language and cultural issues. This program, in conjunction with the Bilingual/TESOL specialization provides a broad perspective in understanding multi-bilingualism with a concentration on education for students whose native language is not English. Students will be encouraged to assume leadership and research positions in a variety of settings such as in schools (P-12), universities, community colleges, and/or research settings at the local, state and federal levels. | ||

| Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, Literacy or related field which included the following coursework (or appropriate equivalencies): | ||
| EDUC 513 Research in Curriculum and Instruction | 3 credits | |
| BIL 522 Literacy-Language Instruction for Bilingual Students | 3 credits | |
| EDUC 568 Educational Uses of Computers | 3 credits | |
| Admission to the doctoral program and interview with Reading, Language, and Literacy faculty. Doctoral programs can be individualized to each student's interests and needs and will be co-constructed with and approved by the student's chair and doctoral committee. | ||
