Specialist in Education (Ed.S.)
in Curriculum and Instruction with
Specialization in Educational Learning Technology

This degree is designed for experienced professionals who have completed a master's degree or its equivalent, and seek to develop professional specialization in curriculum and instruction as it relates to the integration of technology with teaching, learning, and leadership in educational settings. Students may also obtain an endorsement to their teaching licensure as an information technology coordinator and must take the 24 credits of starred courses including the pre-requisite course EDUC 518 or its equivalent. Students taking this degree will also need to form a three person committee and complete an internship and major project in the field.

I. Prerequisites:  
  Master's degree including EDUC 516 (Curriculum Development); EDUC 515 (Multicultural Education); * EDUC 518 (Educational Uses of Computers); EDUC 519 (Educational Research) or their equivalencies. With the approval of the student advisor and department chair, education specialist programs may be co-constructed to meet the individual needs and abilities of the student.
II. Students need to take 18 credit hours related to the EDLT specialization

  EDUC 603 Curriculum for a Diverse Society 3 credits
  EDUC 604 Instruction for a Diverse Society 3 credits
  EDLT 610 Technology, Society, and Education 3 credits
  * EDLT 574 Tech Planning and Grant Writing 3 credits
  * EDLT 522 Integration of Technology TESOL/BE 3 credits
  * EDLT 620 Advanced Multimedia and Authoring 3 credits
  * EDLT 628 Educational Resources on the Internet 3 credits
  * EDLT 529 Developing and Managing Educ.Networks 3 credits
  * EDLT 573 Critical Thinking and Technology

* course requirements for the Information Technology Teaching Endorsement

III.

Complete the following required internships and research courses

12 credits
  *EDLT 571 Action Research 3 credits
  EDLT 612 Advanced Fieldwork or EDUC 602 - Internship 3 credits
  EDLT 607 Current Research in Learning Technologies 3 credits
  EDUC 699 Project based on internship and research 3 credits
  Take elective outside your specialization area

Electives of your choice

3-10 credits
  Minimum Total Units 33 credits
