As the state's land-grant university, NMSU's mission is to serve the educational needs of New Mexico's diverse population through comprehensive programs of education, research, extension education, and public service.  The College of Education achieves this mission through active research and outreach partnerships in the areas of early childhood education; education for diverse populations; bilingual/TESOL education; students with special needs; effective leadership; STEM education; counseling and psychology; and human performance.  In 2009-2010, the College of Education attracted over $10 million in external funding to support many of these projects.
