Karim Martínez is a county program director and family & consumer sciences agent with the New Mexico State University-Doña Ana Cooperative Extension Service. She has worked in Extension for fourteen years providing family health and wellness education in communities to both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. Ms. Martinez is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration at NMSU. In her research, she interviewed bilingual Extension professionals across the nation to study the challenges and successes they experience in reaching Spanish-speaking audiences. She also gathered their recommendations for administrators to improve organizational efforts to reach Spanish-speaking audiences. Her work continues the legacy of Fabiola Cabeza de Baca as a New Mexico Extension Agent who served diverse cultural and linguistic communities.
