NMSU School For Young Children Half-day Program

The NMSU School For Young Children Erma Dicks Carter Classroom (half day) provides an age-appropriate classroom for children ages three to five. The  staff believes that children learn through play and that children’s interests are the foundation for learning. Because of these beliefs, the preschool provides a play-based curriculum in which children choose from a wide variety of activities -some child-initiated, some teacher-initiated.  This approach is inspired by the pre-primary schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy.
The preschool offers two sessions, morning and afternoon, Monday through Thursday, with an enrollment of 18 children per class. The morning session is from 8:30-11:30 AM, and the afternoon session is from 12:30-3:30 PM. Extended-care hours are also offered, and enrollment in both sessions may be available.  The preschool is in session fall and spring semesters.

The NMSU Preschool is a tuition-based program, and state childcare assistance is accepted
