Recent NMSU College of Education Grad Diana DÌaz named standout teacher at La Academia Dolores Huerta Middle School during first year of teaching. Diana was previously one of our student Ambassadors.

EMD Alumna, Susanna Murphy, apppointed as NM Secretary of State.  Governor Bill Richardson announced on June 11, 2010 that he will appoint Susanna Murphy to replace Education Secretary Veronica C.  García. Murphy is currently a member of the faculty of the University of New Mexico's College of Education. Read more...

Maya Hopkins graduated in December of 2002. She received the outstanding senior award and used her portfolio to present to NCATE for the accredidation process. She taught as a TEFL Volunteer in Bangladesh and kept a blog about her experiences which you can view at http://www.mayanomad.blogspot.com/

Thomas Lindsay, graduate of the Communication Disorders Program at NMSU, has been appointed chair of the  Communications Disorders Advisory Board. Lindsay is a graduate of the Communication Disorders Program at NMSU. He completed a bachelor’s degree with honors in 1971 and a master’s degree in speech-language pathology in 1972. Read more ...

NMSU alumna, Dana Dawson, receives Presidential Award for mathematics and science teaching. The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is awarded annually to the best pre-college-level science and mathematics teachers from across the country. The winners are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians and educators following an initial selection process done at the state level. Read more...

Carlsbad's Head Start site supervisor Daina Taylor has been named the national winner of the Helen Hollingshed Taylor Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship, sponsored by the National Head Start Association and friends of the late Helen Hollingshed Taylor, will allow Daina Taylor to continue to pursue her Master's degree in early childhood education.Read more...

The winner of this years School Counselor of the Year goes to Tammi Mackeben, a school counselor from Ernesto Serna PK-8 School, in El Paso, Texas, and an alum of New Mexico State University.  As a school counselor she works with individuals as well as entire classrooms to help students achieve academically, personally, socially, and find success in their future careers.
